Magpie traits, behaviours, & folklore

A lot of people find magpies relatable...

-Resourcefulness
-They mimic human speech
-Curiosity
-They adapt easily in urban spaces
-In forests they are reclusive but in urban spaces they are sociable, even with humans
-In folklore they often symbolise intuition or self-deception
-In some cultures they represent a balance between masculine and feminine traits
-In one story, the magpies didn't get onto Noah's ark because they were too busy gossiping with eachother in the rain
-In dream symbolism, magpies can represent insecurity, especially in the dreamer's relationship
-Magpies are passive when alone, but when they get into groups they tend to show off more, and show oppurtunistic traits/bully other creatures
-They care about how they look and will spend time looking at their reflections
-In Korean mythology, the magpie helps people to fall in love with one another
-They have great pattern recognition
-They grieve deaths of other magpies
